The Meister Guild is an international organization that aims to maintain and preserve the planetary structure. Due to their necessity, it is a non governmental organization unbound by political or ideological considerations. More than half of the Meisters in the world are affiliated with this organization as technicians, and it has the the most cutting edge technology and equipment to deal with all sorts of malfunctions in the world.

The guild is heavily backed by the Breguets and occasionally find themselves at odds with other regional authorities such as the Army in Japan. The Meister Guild has signed an international treaty granting them unparalleled power to operate unobstructed by these authorities. This naturally causes friction, with the regional authority seeing them as vultures who steal work while the Guild sees the authorities as incompetent.

Similar to most other maintenance workers of the Clockwork Planet, members are mostly or fully organic rather than mechanical. This choice is due to organics being more sensitive towards mechanical fluctuations that cyborgs and tools dismiss within a margin of error. Skilled organic workers are also faster. As exhibited by Marie, it is possible for a Meister to instantly dismantle several cyborgs holding them at gunpoint.

Ranks[]

The Meister Guild is divided into three distinct ranks (not counting rankless clocksmiths).

Lehrling[]

The rank at which technicians join the guild. These are the lowest ranked members.

Geselle[]

The second rank, to which Lehrlings are promoted and from which Meisters are promoted. Little is known about what differentiates them from Lehrlings apart from having gone through rough jobs in the field.

Meister[]

The final rank of the guild. A Meister is a first class clockmaker, with only 6305 people in the world holding this title. To achieve this rank, a Geselle needs to have acquired both expertise and experience. Marie Bell Breguet is the youngest person to become one, attaining the title in her teens. More than half of the world's Meisters are part of the guild. They are responsible for the delicate mission of maintaining the colossal, intricate, and mechanical timepiece that is the Clockwork Planet.
