Ryouji Niijima is one of auditors for the Army's Technical Force in Kyoto's Core Tower.

Personality[]

Ryouji is a very mundane person. Not much is known about him other than that he loved his family very much, acquiescing even to the deaths of millions just so they can be spared. He is also fairly brave, choosing not to divulge vital information even after being threatened with death and only relenting after his family was targeted.

He is a quiet man and initially chose not to engage in conversation with Marie Bell Breguet.

Due to the Army's dark nature, he has grown cynical and views all those in high positions as elitists who don't know any better. During his meeting with Marie, he disparaged the education the heir to the Breguet group needed to go through as unnecessary.

Appearance[]

Ryouji is a young man wearing an Army security uniform. He is not mechanized in any way.

Abilities[]

Ryouji is an Army engineer. He has received combat training, and though it is not to the level of the soldiers in the Army's infantry units he is still able to deal with two or three punks easily. However, this is not enough to defeat someone like Marie who has undergone extensive training, nor enough to put up a fight against a cyborg like Halter.

He carries a BR-19 as a weapon and should be proficient in using it.

Character History[]

Japan Arc[]

One Month Before[]

Upon the discovery of the Kyoto gravitational malfunction, Ryouji sends his family away for their safety.

Ryouji is assigned as an Auditor to monitor the actions of the Meister Guild. Due to the Army's activities, he is lured into an elevator by Marie and has the truth of the matter beaten out of him: the Army intends to kill all of Kyoto in a purge. Marie then knocks him out, leaving his final fate unknown.

His disappearance is subject to inquiry by the Army, with two members confronting Marie outside of the underground parking lot concerning the matter.

Relationship[]

Niijima Family[]

He loves his family very much, and fear for their safety more than he fears death.

Army[]

Despite their heinous crimes, he sees their Technical Force as the best of the best. Thus, he looks down upon the Meister Guild as a result.

Meister Guild[]

Ryouji sees them as pompous elitists who couldn't measure up to the skills of the Technical Force. He is also privy to the knowledge that previous purges were conducted due to their failures to repair the grid in time, seeing them as having blood on their hands due to such.

Marie Bell Breguet[]

He sees her as a mere child and is dismissive of her. This changes when she and Halter manage to force the truth of the matter out of him, and he is reduced to begging for his family's life.

Trivia[]

  • Marie is critical of his decision to carry a BR-19 with .45 caliber, recommending instead that he carry a BR-sp33 instead, as the short assault gun is better.

Quotes[]

  • (To Marie) "However, frankly speaking, I cannot understand what the point was in you learning all that. If you were an employee, it’d be another story, but was that kind of education really necessary for the family princess?"
