The Army is the group guarding the Core Towers of Japan. They mostly aim to please the prime minister by removing anything they regard as a nuisance. They are corrupt, willing to kill millions just to help take down one of the Five Great Families. Marie considers them hyenas, expressing her discontentment with them even before their dark plans are brought to light. There is considerable friction between them and the Meister Guild, with them often "offering assistance" by citing excuses including "leakage of classified information" and "bearing responsibility" in order to obstruct work.

They are shown facing off against Second Upsilon's core members in Episode 1, attacking them due to their actions as terrorists. They originally appear to be for the sake of defense, though as the story progresses Marie Bell Breguet discovers that they are collaborating with the Vacherons to illegally purge the Kyoto Grid.

They serve as a major obstacle to the protagonists, deploying military grade automata against them and the Meister Guild. Due to their actions, they are the secondary antagonists of the Japan Arc.

History[]

Japan Arc[]

One Month Before[]

Before the story begins the Army's Technical Force discovers a gravity anomaly on the 24th Floor of Kyoto Grid's underground. Determining all hope to be lost, they decide to withdraw and plot to have someone else take the fall once the grid is purged.

Upon arrival in Japan, the Army immediately offers its services to Marie, who turns them down immediately. Having already lost hope of fixing the grid, they had been conspiring with Limons Vacheron to attempt to kill the entire Kyoto Grid and pin the blame upon the young Meister as well as the Meister Guild. They make offers of "assistance" to the Guild, though it's all for show.

Their plot is found out within 27 hours of the Meister Guild beginning their work, and upon being exposed the Technical Force left to monitor the Guild quickly retreats.
